An established, forward-thinking independent small animal practice in Swindon is seeking a passionate and motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join its growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a vet with some experience who is looking to develop their clinical skills in a supportive, well-equipped environment while maintaining an excellent work-life balance.
The Role
The successful candidate will be confident in routine surgery and emergency cases, capable of managing their own caseload, and enthusiastic about continuous professional development. They will thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Full-time: 4-day week (35 hours)
- Fixed day off each week
- 1 in 4 Saturday rota (finishing at 4pm)
- No Sundays
- No out-of-hours or inpatient on-call (outsourced locally)
- No sole charge
Dedicated nursing support is provided on every shift, ensuring assistance with patient handling, note-taking, and medication administration. Real-time client updates on hospitalised patients reduce administrative pressures and enhance client satisfaction.

- Visiting orthopaedic specialists
- Monthly CT service
The team includes 8 vets with a wide range of experience, supported by skilled RVNs and a dedicated reception team.
Career Development
Professional growth is actively encouraged, with strong support for further qualifications:
- 5 days CPD leave
- £1,600 CPD budget (with additional funding for certificates)
- Mentorship from experienced clinicians
- Clinical freedom to work up cases fully
Salary & Benefits
£50,000 – £75,000 salary (depending on experience)
- 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays
- RCVS and VDS fees paid
