A well-established veterinary referral hospital in Swindon, Wiltshire is seeking a Referral Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its Soft Tissue & Orthopaedics team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RVN to develop their surgical nursing skills within a supportive and progressive referral environment. Working alongside specialist surgeons, an experienced nursing team and dedicated theatre technicians, the successful candidate will support a varied caseload of advanced surgical and diagnostic procedures.
The Role
- 40 hours per week across 4 x 10-hour days
- Shifts between 8:00am – 6:00pm
- 1 in 8 weekends, with time off in lieu the following week
- Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:
- Monitoring general anaesthesia and sedation for advanced imaging and surgical procedures
- Scrubbing into and assisting with soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries
- Theatre organisation and patient preparation
- Clipping and prepping patients
- Patient admissions and discharges
- Maintaining surgical instruments and equipment
About the Candidate
- A qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with at least 1 year post‑qualification experience
- Experienced in surgical nursing
- Passionate about delivering high standards of patient care
- A strong team player
- Previous referral experience is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.

This innovative Tier 3 multidisciplinary referral and primary care hospital, located just off the M4, provides exceptional patient care across a range of disciplines including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, neurology, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, ECC and medicine. The surgery team consists of 6 specialist surgeons, 6 nurses and 3 surgery technicians, creating a highly collaborative and supportive environment.
