An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon with a surgical bias to join a thriving and highly progressive practice in Portsmouth—a city that blends coastal charm with rich maritime heritage and vibrant culture. This is not your average small animal role; you’ll be working shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the UK’s most advanced surgical minds, including a Senior Vet whose impressive credentials span a GP Advanced Certificate in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery, Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, GP Cert, and who is on track to become the first person in the UK to hold a GP Diploma in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery. She brings over 25 years of referral level surgical experience to the team.

The practice also collaborates regularly with a visiting Orthopaedic Diplomate and European Recognized Specialist, performing advanced orthopaedic procedures such as CBLO, TPLO, TTA, patella luxation repair, fracture repair, spinal surgeries, and even total hip replacements. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with arthroscopy and a wide range of complex soft tissue surgeries including BOAS, laryngeal tiebacks, thoracotomies, TECA/LBOs, and major tumour resections.

With a recent expansion doubling their space, the practice now boasts a dedicated cat/rabbit/exotics clinic, modern surgical suites, and overnight staff facilities—creating a state-of-the-art clinical environment that supports both patients and the team. Located in Portsmouth, you’ll enjoy life in a dynamic coastal city with award-winning beaches, historic dockyards, independent restaurants, and easy access to the South Downs and the Isle of Wight—making it the perfect place to live, work, and unwind.

This is a unique role for a surgically inclined vet—ideally with a surgical certificate or working towards one—who wants to develop further under outstanding mentorship while playing a vital role in delivering life-changing procedures to patients.
