The Role
Working alongside the Head Veterinary Nurse, the Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of the nursing team. The role will involve supporting and mentoring RVNs, Student Veterinary Nurses and Patient Care Assistants, helping colleagues develop their clinical skills and ensuring consistently high standards of nursing care. Responsibilities will include supporting standards across anaesthesia, inpatient care and theatre, assisting with staff training and clinical coaching, maintaining effective workflows and infection control, and helping with stock, equipment and practice protocols. The Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse will also deputise for the Head Nurse when required and work closely with the veterinary surgeons, reception team and wider practice.
