The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a thriving small animal practice in Newcastle as Head Registered Veterinary Nurse. This leadership role is ideal for a passionate veterinary nurse who enjoys inspiring others, maintaining exceptional clinical standards and delivering outstanding patient care.

Working across two practice sites, the successful candidate will lead and support the nursing team while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of clinical operations. They will work closely with the Practice Manager and Clinical Director to drive continuous improvement, develop nursing services and create a positive, collaborative working environment.

The Role

The Head RVN will take responsibility for leading the nursing and support teams, overseeing clinical standards, rota management and workflow to ensure the practice operates efficiently. Alongside leadership duties, they will remain actively involved in all aspects of clinical nursing, including surgical assistance, anaesthesia monitoring, inpatient care and nurse consultations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing nursing protocols, expanding nurse-led clinics, supporting quality improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with RCVS and Health & Safety standards. The ideal candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with at least three years of post-qualification experience in small animal practice and previous leadership or supervisory experience.
