Join a long-established, proudly independent mixed practice in South Wales with a loyal client base, including generations of family-run farms within a close local radius. Enjoy a true mixed caseload across beef, sheep, small animal, and some dairy work, supported by excellent facilities including an on-site large animal block, digital imaging, dental suite, ultrasound, ECG, and in-house laboratory.

The Role
The practice is seeking a full-time Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to work a 4-day week, providing an excellent work-life balance while maintaining continuity of care for clients and patients. The out-of-hours rota is shared equally amongst the mixed veterinary team and includes:
- Two weekends in every 8-week rota
- Five weeknights in every 8-week block
- First and second on-call responsibilities shared fairly
The practice provides its own out-of-hours service, supported by 24-hour on-site nursing care.
Salary & Benefits
Salary ranging from £48,000 – £65,000 DOE:
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

About the Practice
This independent mixed veterinary practice has been established within the local community for generations and has built long-standing relationships with many family-run farms across South Wales. Most farm clients are located within a 15-mile radius of the practice, providing an efficient and manageable ambulatory workload.
The farm animal caseload includes:
- Beef and sheep work
- Some dairy herd involvement
- Bull and ram fertility testing
- Regular farm meetings and client education initiatives
- Preventive health and flock/herd management support
The practice benefits from an on-site large animal unit, allowing for:
- Lambings
- Ewe caesareans
- Calf inpatient care
- FECPAK faecal egg count testing carried out in-house
Small Animal Facilities
The purpose-built small animal hospital is equipped with:

- Separate dog kennels and cattery wards
