This isn’t a typical Head Vet role. It’s a chance to build and lead your own practice from day one. Our client is opening a brand-new, purpose-built veterinary surgery and is looking for a Head Vet to take full clinical ownership—shaping the team, culture, and standards from the ground up.

Why this role stands out

  • Most leadership roles mean stepping into something already established. This one doesn’t.
  • You’ll lead a modern, fully equipped surgery designed with both clinical excellence and team wellbeing in mind.
  • With the backing of a large, independent veterinary group, you’ll have the support you need—but real autonomy to make the practice your own.

The role

  • This is a hands‑on leadership position, combining clinical work with genuine influence.
  • Lead and inspire the clinical team.
  • Set and maintain high clinical standards.
  • Deliver a strong mix of consults and surgery.
  • Support and develop your colleagues.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients and the local community.
  • Shape how the practice runs day to day.

Working pattern

  • 4 days per week (9‑hour shifts).
  • 1 in 4 weekends.
  • 39 hours on average.
  • Admin/leadership time built into your week.

What’s on offer

  • A well-rounded package that supports you as a leader, both professionally and personally:
  • Salary from £75,000 (DOE).
  • CPD allowance, funded memberships, and leadership development.
  • Quarterly recognition payments.
  • Clear progression within a growing, independent group.
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays, plus enhanced family leave.
  • Wellbeing support, compassionate leave, and income protection.
  • Electric car scheme and additional lifestyle perks.

About you

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has solid GP experience and is confident clinically.
  • Enjoys leading, mentoring, and developing a team.
  • Is passionate about delivering high‑quality care.
  • Communicates well and builds strong relationships.
  • Wants the autonomy to shape and grow a practice.
