An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Head Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a well-established veterinary practice in Greater London. This is a full-time, permanent Head Veterinary Nurse position, ideal for a confident RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse ready to lead, develop and inspire a dedicated nursing team while delivering exceptional patient and client care.

The Role

As a Head Veterinary Nurse, the postholder will be accountable for the clinical leadership of the nursing team, ensuring exceptional standards of patient care while maintaining the highest levels of regulatory, clinical, operational and practice compliance. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting colleagues, patients and clients, ensuring the practice continues to deliver outstanding veterinary care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional patient care, including nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 procedures.
  • Support consultations, surgeries and clinical procedures while maintaining the highest veterinary standards.
  • Monitor patients and oversee admissions and discharges.
  • Deliver exceptional client care and communication.
  • Provide clinical leadership, mentoring and development to the nursing team.
  • Ensure compliance with all RCVS, regulatory and operational standards.
  • Support a positive team culture focused on collaboration and excellent veterinary care.

Working Pattern

This full-time Veterinary Nurse role is based across two neighbouring branches in Greater London, with time split evenly between both locations. 1 in 3 Saturdays on a branch rota or 1 in 3 Saturdays or Sundays at a nearby sister 24‑hour veterinary hospital or 1 in 6 full weekends at the hospital. A shared bank holiday rota (2–3 shifts per year). Participation in an on‑call rota (2–3 weeks per year).
