An established, independent small animal veterinary group in North Hampshire is seeking an experienced and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join its team on a maternity cover contract. This role is based in Fleet and offers flexible working options, including both full‑time and part‑time hours. This opportunity is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to work in a modern, purpose‑built practice, with strong clinical support, excellent facilities, and a genuine emphasis on work‑life balance.
The group operates across four well‑equipped small animal practices in North Hampshire, offering convenient access to London and the South Coast. The team consists of experienced, friendly professionals committed to delivering high‑quality veterinary care to a loyal client base.
Facilities across the group include:
- CT scanner (at sister site)
- Digital and dental X‑ray
- Ultrasound equipment
- Flexible endoscopy and gastroscopy
- Dedicated operating theatre
- Large preparation area
- In‑house laboratory
- Separate cat and dog wards, plus isolation unit
- Three consultation rooms
The practice benefits from multiple certificate holders, with clinical interests spanning:
- Dermatology
- Cardiology

- Exotics and reptiles
The group is also a Cat Friendly Clinic, promoting best practices in feline care.
This Veterinary Surgeon position offers a varied caseload, combining consultations with 1–2 surgical days per week. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of three Veterinary Surgeons, supported by experienced RVNs, SVNs, and a dedicated reception team.
Limited sole charge (Saturday only)
Flexible rota including early and late finishes
Shared weekend rota
No out-of-hours (OOH) or night duties
There is also an opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in exotic animals to further develop and grow the existing caseload.
Candidate Requirements:
- RCVS‑registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Confident in routine surgery and clinical examinations
- Strong communication and client care skills
