A genuinely independent small animal practice in Essex is seeking an experienced and surgically confident Veterinary Surgeon to join its close-knit clinical team in a sole charge capacity. This is an outstanding opportunity for a vet looking for true clinical autonomy, a varied caseload, and a rota that offers substantial time off while maintaining full-time earnings.
The successful candidate will replace one of two Veterinary Surgeons working within an established 2-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off rota, with flexibility around a similar full-time pattern for the right person. Please note this is not a part-time opportunity.
The practice is particularly keen to hear from Veterinary Surgeons who are confident in surgery, especially those comfortable performing caesarean sections, which form a regular part of the caseload. This role requires someone who is comfortable working completely sole charge, able to make sound clinical decisions independently, and confident managing both routine and more complex surgical cases.
The Role- Full-time position on a 2-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off rota
- Working hours during rota blocks: 9:00am – 7:00pm across a 7-day week
- Completely sole charge role with clinical freedom and autonomy
- Mix of consultations, diagnostics, medical work-ups and surgery
- Regular surgical caseload including routine procedures and frequent caesarean sections
- Opportunity to build strong client relationships and maintain case continuity
- Typically 2–3 surgical procedures per day
- 15-minute consultations
