An exciting opportunity has opened for a confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a long-established, family-run independent practice in South Yorkshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Vet who enjoys surgery and is looking for genuine time, facilities and clinical support to further develop their skills. You’ll be joining a large and experienced team where collaboration is encouraged and support is always available, without the pressures of a corporate environment.
With 2 hours of protected operating time every day, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to build your surgical confidence and take ownership of a varied caseload.
The Practice & Facilities
All surgery and hospitalised cases are managed at the practice’s fully equipped main centre, providing an excellent clinical environment and exposure to a broad and varied caseload.
Facilities include
- 5 operating theatres
- Advanced ultrasound and endoscopy
- Digital imaging
- In-house laboratory facilities
- Dedicated hydrotherapy and physiotherapy centre
- A busy surgical caseload, with approximately 20–30 procedures performed each day
You’ll never be left operating alone, with experienced colleagues and nursing support available whenever needed.
Alongside the main centre, the group has 7 consulting-only branches across the local area, all benefiting from excellent clinical and nursing support.
The Team & Development
You’ll be joining a well-established team of:
- 14 Veterinary Surgeons
- 4 Certificate Holders
- 19 nursing team members, including 14 RVNs
- Experienced support colleagues across the wider group
There is a strong emphasis on clinical development, making this an excellent environment for a Vet who wants to progress their surgical skills, learn from experienced colleagues and gain exposure to a wide range of cases.
The Role
You’ll manage a varied first-opinion caseload across consultations, diagnostics and surgery, with the opportunity to follow your cases through and build strong relationships with clients.
The dedicated daily operating time means surgery is a genuine part of your working day rather than something that needs to be squeezed around a busy consulting schedule.
This could particularly suit a Vet who already enjoys surgery but wants the time, caseload and support to take your confidence and capability to the next level.
Rota & Work-Life Balance
- Alternate 4- and 5-day weeks, averaging 7.5 hours per day
- 2-hour daily operating slot + protected 2-hour break
- Just 1 weekend day every 5 weeks (8am–5pm)
- No ooh
- Only 1 Bank Holiday per year
Salary & Benefits
- £60,000 – £90,000 DOE
