Surgical Veterinary Surgeon – Huntingdon

The Role
A prestigious Tier‑3 small animal hospital in Cambridgeshire is seeking an enthusiastic and confident Veterinary Surgeon with a strong surgical focus. The successful candidate will take the lead on an established soft tissue and orthopaedic caseload, including TTAs, lateral sutures, patella surgery, and basic fracture repairs. All necessary equipment is readily available to support high‑quality surgical care.
This position is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with routine and elective surgeries (including dentistry) and already possesses, or wishes to further develop, a strong repertoire in orthopaedic surgery. The incoming surgeon will have the opportunity to expand and grow the hospital’s in‑house surgical caseload.
About the Hospital
- Digital radiography, ultrasound (including echocardiography)
- Video‑endoscopy (gastroscope, bronchoscope, and small rigid endoscopes)
- Multi‑parameter anaesthetic monitoring and tonometry
- A purpose‑built physiotherapy and hydrotherapy unit with aquatic treadmill and K‑Laser
A dedicated out‑of‑hours team ensures excellent continuity of care, while a calm and spacious cat ward enhances patient comfort. The hospital has recently undergone a full refurbishment, creating a modern, welcoming environment.
The Team
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and experienced clinical team of 23 vets, including certificate holders in medicine, cardiology, emergency and critical care, ophthalmology, and diagnostic imaging. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the soft tissue and orthopaedic caseload
- Undertake two surgical shifts and two consulting shifts per week (flexible, part‑time variations considered)

Hours
- Full‑time: 40 hours per week across four 9‑hour days, plus 1 in 4 weekends.
- No night work required. Part‑time hours will be considered.
