Successful Applicant
- Previous Responsible Individual, Operations Manager, Responsible Person, or Senior Leadership experience within children's residential care
- Must hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management or Level 5 Diploma in Children, Young People and Families Management
- Strong working knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, safeguarding legislation, and Ofsted requirements
- Proven ability to support, challenge, and develop Registered Managers to achieve high-quality service delivery
- Experience managing budgets, financial performance, and operational resources within residential childcare settings
- Strong understanding of therapeutic care models and delivering positive outcomes for children and young people
- Experience evaluating quality of care, service performance, staffing structures, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, and relationship-building skills
- Full UK Driving Licence essential
- Confident working collaboratively with Ofsted, local authorities, social care teams, and other multi-agency professionals
Role & Responsibilities
- Hold the position of Responsible Individual and provide strategic oversight across two therapeutic children's homes
- Support and mentor the Dual Registered Manager, ensuring outstanding operational standards, regulatory compliance, and positive outcomes for young people
- Work in partnership with Ofsted, local authorities, and external agencies to ensure services operate within all legislative and regulatory frameworks
- Take overall responsibility for safeguarding arrangements and the welfare of children and young people across the services
- Conduct regular audits, quality assurance reviews, and announced and unannounced visits to ensure high standards are consistently maintained
- Support Registered Managers to create environments where children receive therapeutic, nurturing, and individualised care
- Oversee budgets and financial controls, including staffing costs, agency usage, training budgets, property maintenance, vehicles, and operational expenditure
- Monitor service performance, quality indicators, and return on investment across the homes
- Review referrals and placement suitability, working closely with local authorities and external stakeholders
- Ensure robust care planning processes are in place, with each child receiving personalised support tailored to their individual needs
- Participate in the on-call rota alongside the management team, providing guidance and support when required
- Lead or support disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes where necessary
- Champion children's rights, participation, and advocacy, ensuring young people have a voice in decisions affecting their lives
- Drive continuous improvement, promote best practice, and support services in achieving and maintaining outstanding standards of care
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders to share best practice, strengthen service delivery, and support the organisation's continued growth and development
