Practice Nurse

Location: GP Practice – St Helens
Location: St Helens, Merseyside
Salary: Depending on experience
Contract: Permanent – Full-time / Part-time (hours negotiable)

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse to join a friendly and supportive primary care team within a GP practice in the St Helens area. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality nursing care to our local patient population. Both full-time and part-time hours are available, with flexibility to support a positive work–life balance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care for patients with both acute and long-term conditions.
  • Run chronic disease management clinics (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension).
  • Undertake treatment room duties including cervical cytology, immunisations, wound care, and health promotion.
  • Contribute to QOF achievement and enhanced services.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, HCAs, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with NMC standards and practice protocols.

About You

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) qualification.
  • Experience or a strong interest in primary care or community nursing.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Training or experience in chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD).
  • Cervical cytology and childhood immunisation qualifications.
  • Familiarity with EMIS Web or other primary care clinical systems.
