Overview
Night Veterinary Surgeon – ECC. 2 Weekends On / 2 Weekends Off. Leicester. Up to £72,000 per annum (pro rata, DOE).
The Practice
An established 24-hour veterinary hospital in Leicester is seeking an experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon to join its dedicated Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team. This is a part-time, weekend-only position, working Saturday and Sunday, 7pm–9am, on a 2 weekends on, 2 weekends off rota.
- The recently refurbished 24-hour small animal hospital supports multiple local clinics across the Leicester area and benefits from a loyal client base and varied emergency caseload.
- The hospital is fully equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical facilities, including:
- Orthopaedic equipment
- Digital and dental X-ray
- Ultrasound
- Endoscopy
- Tonometry
The Role
This is a sole-charge ECC role, ideal for a confident and experienced veterinary surgeon with strong medical and surgical skills. The successful candidate will manage a diverse emergency caseload overnight, supported on shift by:
- A Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
- A rotational Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA)
This support structure allows the Night Veterinary Surgeon to focus on delivering outstanding emergency and critical care.

Candidate Requirements
- Qualified MRCVS
- Proven experience in ECC or out-of-hours veterinary work
- Confident working sole charge overnight
- Strong communication skills and commitment to clinical excellence
- A team-focused approach with a passion for patient and client care
