Overview
Registered Children’s home Manager Grantham Up to £50,000. 3 bed EBD home Step into a leadership role where you can shape a nurturing, stable home for children and young people while driving outstanding standards of care. This is a key opportunity to lead a permanent children’s home in Grantham, using your safeguarding expertise and management skills to create a safe, supportive and consistent environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational management of the home, ensuring a safe, caring and structured environment for all children and young people.
- Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, preparing for and responding to inspections.
- Oversee safeguarding and child protection practices, ensuring concerns are identified, reported and managed in line with policies and statutory guidance.
- Recruit, supervise, coach and performance-manage staff, conducting regular supervisions, appraisals and team meetings.
- Develop and implement individualised care plans and risk assessments in collaboration with the team and external professionals.
- Monitor and manage budgets, occupancy levels and resources to ensure the home is efficient, sustainable and delivering value.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation to evidential standards, including incident reporting and regulatory returns.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, using feedback, audits and data to enhance the quality of care and outcomes for children.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience managing or deputy managing a children’s residential home or similar setting.
- Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge, with the ability to lead safe practice and respond to concerns effectively.
- Demonstrable leadership and team management skills, including staff supervision, coaching and performance management.
- In-depth understanding of Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Ability to manage budgets, occupancy and resources in a residential care environment.
- Excellent communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills, with resilience under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, delegate and meet deadlines.
Desirable Skills
- Experience improving or maintaining a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating.
- Background in therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches within children’s services.
- Experience working with children with complex needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties or similar profiles.
- Familiarity with digital care recording systems and data reporting tools.
Qualifications
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent (or working towards with relevant experience).
- Relevant Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in safeguarding, child protection and leadership.
- Full UK driving licence is preferred.
