An established and RCVS-accredited equine hospital in Leicestershire is seeking two motivated and enthusiastic Equine Veterinary Interns to join its team for a 12-month internship commencing in July 2026 and October 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career veterinary surgeon to gain hands-on clinical experience in equine medicine and surgery within a busy, well-equipped hospital environment.
About the Role
The internship is primarily hospital-based, although interns may also be involved in additional clinical activities across the practice depending on caseload.
Core Competencies
- Equine lameness investigation
- Equine anaesthesia
- Diagnostic imaging (including MRI)
- Reproductive medicine
- Colic diagnosis and case management
- General equine medicine and surgery
Key Responsibilities
- Providing inpatient care for hospitalised horses
- Supporting outpatient consultations
- Assisting with emergency admissions and surgical procedures
- Delivering high-quality client communication and care
Interns will also be encouraged and supported to complete a case report or case series, with the aim of publication in a peer-reviewed veterinary journal.

Candidate Requirements
- Hold a veterinary degree (MRCVS or eligible)
- Be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
- Be fluent in English
- Demonstrate initiative, motivation, and a strong willingness to learn
- Be committed to delivering excellent patient and client care
Previous experience in equine anaesthesia is advantageous but not essential. Prospective applicants are encouraged to spend at least one day at the hospital prior to the selection process.
