The Role
The Salaried GP will manage a varied caseload and provide comprehensive primary care services to registered and temporary patients. The post-holder will undertake a combination of routine and urgent consultations while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care. Clinical sessions will include protected time for reviewing results, processing prescriptions, completing clinical administration and managing correspondence. The successful candidate will also participate in a GP Co-ordinator role on a rotational basis, working closely with reception and clinical teams to ensure safe patient flow and effective workload management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct face-to-face and telephone consultations
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated conditions
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment and management plans
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions
- Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with clinical guidelines and local formularies
- Make appropriate referrals to secondary and community care services
- Undertake home visits when required
- Complete clinical records accurately and contemporaneously
- Review and action pathology results, correspondence and prescriptions
- Deliver enhanced services and preventative healthcare programmes
- Participate in clinical meetings, audits and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain professional standards and engage in continuing professional development
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Fully qualified General Practitioner
- GMC registration with licence to practise
- Inclusion on the NHS Performers List
- Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification GP experience
