Qualifications

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent (or currently working towards)
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People or Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in safeguarding, LD, EBD and leadership
  • Full UK driving licence is preferred

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a children’s residential setting
  • Strong knowledge of learning disabilities (LD), emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), safeguarding and children’s home regulations
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving at least two ‘Good’ Ofsted ratings in a leadership capacity
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in staff supervision, performance management and team development
  • Ability to effectively manage a multi-disciplinary staff team in a busy, demanding environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels
  • Clear commitment to achieving positive outcomes for young people and promoting their rights, welfare and independence

Desirable skills

  • Experience managing or contributing to the growth or expansion of a children’s residential service
  • Background in working specifically with young people with complex LD and associated behaviours
  • Experience of implementing new practice frameworks, models of care or quality improvement initiatives
  • Competence in using electronic care recording systems and data to inform practice and service development
