We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established children’s residential care provider for an experienced Registered Manager – Intake & Assessment to lead the admissions and assessment service in Birmingham.

This key leadership role involves overseeing the intake process, ensuring each child receives a safe, appropriate placement supported by comprehensive assessments that promote wellbeing and positive long-term outcomes.

Role Overview

As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for managing the intake and assessment procedures, ensuring all placements are child-centred, compliant with Ofsted regulations, and meet the individual needs of each child. You will collaborate with local authorities, families, and internal teams to facilitate smooth transitions and deliver high-quality care from the outset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all intake, referral, and assessment processes for new admissions
  • Ensure placements are safe, appropriate, and tailored to individual needs
  • Maintain compliance with Ofsted regulations and safeguarding standards
  • Lead, support, and develop staff to provide excellent care
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with commissioners and stakeholders
  • Oversee care planning, risk management, and placement transitions

Candidate Requirements
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Experience managing or deputising within a children’s residential setting
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven leadership, assessment, and decision-making skills
  • Child-focused, resilient, and compassionate approach
