What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years' experience working within an Ofsted-regulated children's residential home
- Previous experience in a leadership or management role within children's residential care
- Level 3/4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (preferred)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation, Ofsted requirements and Quality Standards
- Experience leading, managing and developing a residential staff team
- Confidence overseeing care planning, risk management and safeguarding
- Strong organisational, communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to maintain high standards of recording, compliance and practice
- Full UK driving licence
- Passionate about improving outcomes and experiences for children and young people
- Calm, emotionally intelligent, approachable and resilient leadership style
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the safe and effective day-to-day management of the children's home
- Lead, support and develop the residential staff team, promoting a positive and consistent culture
- Create and maintain a safe, warm, nurturing and therapeutic home environment
- Ensure the physical and emotional needs of children and young people are safeguarded and promoted
- Oversee safeguarding, risk management, care planning and placement planning
- Ensure care is trauma-informed and centred around the individual needs, wishes and feelings of each young person
- Maintain compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
- Ensure the home remains Ofsted-ready and consistently maintains high standards of care
- Monitor recording, audits, quality assurance and regulatory compliance
- Identify areas for improvement and implement effective action plans
- Build strong working relationships with social workers, families, Local Authorities and other professionals
- Ensure effective communication and partnership working across the professional network
- Monitor outcomes for children and young people and drive continuous improvement
- Manage staffing, resources and the effective deployment of the team
- Provide leadership, direction and support to staff, leading by example at all times
- Support the development of the service and contribute to its ongoing growth
- Promote a culture where children feel safe, valued, respected and empowered to achieve positive outcomes
