Our client, a specialist provider of residential children’s care services, is seeking an experienced Registered Children’s Home Manager to lead a residential service in Sunderland. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a committed leader with a therapeutic outlook who is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for young people in residential care.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the home, ensuring high standards of care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and the delivery of a safe, nurturing and trauma-informed environment for young people.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum two years’ experience in Residential Children’s Social Care, ideally at senior, deputy or management level
- At least one year’s experience in a supervisory or management role within children’s residential care
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches; knowledge of PACE advantageous or willingness to learn
- Sound working knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations, Ofsted standards and relevant legislation
- Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and develop staff
- Ability to manage challenging situations professionally while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Residential Childcare / Children’s Workforce (or equivalent) or Level 5 NVQ in Residential Childcare, or willingness to achieve Level 5 within two years
- Full UK driving licence
- Enhanced DBS clearance and strong employment references from previous roles working with children or vulnerable adults
