What We're Looking For
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager within an Ofsted-regulated children's home
- Proven experience of opening and registering a new children's residential home
- Strong knowledge of Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and safeguarding requirements
- Proven leadership and people management experience
- Ability to recruit, develop and retain a high-performing residential care team
- Strong understanding of therapeutic, child-centred and trauma-informed approaches
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Genuine passion for improving outcomes and enriching the lives of children and young people
- Calm, resilient and solution-focused approach
- Ability to build strong relationships with children, families, social workers and external professionals
- Ambitious approach and enthusiasm for contributing to the growth of an expanding organisation
- Enhanced DBS, satisfactory references and successful completion of safer recruitment checks
- Full right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Ofsted registration process and prepare the home for opening
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of the home
- Ensure the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose, Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Promote outstanding safeguarding practices and ensure children's welfare remains the highest priority
- Recruit, supervise, develop and inspire a high-performing staff team
- Establish a warm, nurturing and therapeutic culture within the home
- Embed child-centred practice and ensure children's individual needs and aspirations are at the heart of care
- Build positive and effective relationships with children, families, social workers and partner agencies
- Oversee care planning, risk management and safeguarding processes
- Monitor quality assurance, audits and continuous improvement across the service
- Manage the home's budget and resources effectively
- Ensure children have access to meaningful experiences, activities, holidays and opportunities that enrich their lives
- Promote positive outcomes across education, health, emotional wellbeing and independence
- Work closely with the Responsible Individual to ensure the home maintains high standards of care and compliance
- Lead the service through future Ofsted inspections and drive continuous improvement
- Support the development of the organisation as it expands into additional children's residential homes
