The Role
The Prescribing Paramedic Practitioner will take on a varied and rewarding role, working both autonomously and as part of the wider clinical team. The successful candidate will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute, minor, and chronic conditions. Independent prescribing is central to the role, enabling timely interventions and continuity of care for patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical assessments for patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions
- Undertake same-day and routine clinics, managing minor illness, urgent care, and chronic disease reviews where appropriate
- Prescribe medications safely and effectively within the scope of practice
- Perform home visits and contribute to the on-the-day demand management system
- Collaborate closely with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals
- Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit activities
- Support patient education and health promotion within the community
Requirements
- Registered Paramedic with the HCPC
- Independent Prescriber (V300 qualification essential)
- Experience within primary care, urgent care, or community settings
- Strong clinical decision-making and triage skills
- A proactive, adaptable, and patient‑focused approach
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
