What We're Looking For
- Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Children & Young People's Workforce / Residential Childcare (essential)
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker within children's residential care
- Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma and attachment difficulties
- Good understanding of therapeutic parenting, attachment-based practice, DDP and PACE (desirable)
- Passion for delivering high-quality, child-centred and therapeutic care
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Ability to supervise, mentor and support residential staff
- Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and children's residential regulations
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Right to work in the UK
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day leadership and management of the home
- Lead shifts and supervise the residential care team
- Provide high-quality therapeutic care to children aged 7–17 with social, emotional and complex needs
- Promote a safe, nurturing and stable home environment where children can thrive
- Support children with education, personal development and independence
- Supervise staff, complete supervisions and support ongoing staff development
- Ensure care plans, placement plans, policies, procedures and risk assessments are effectively implemented
- Assist with rota management and day-to-day operational responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, safeguarding requirements and organisational policies
- Build positive relationships with children, families and external professionals
- Maintain accurate records and regulatory documentation
- Promote positive outcomes through therapeutic parenting and trauma-informed approaches
