Occupational Health Advisor – Newton Aycliffe

Location: Newton Aycliffe – minimum 3 days on site
Hours: Part-time or full-time – minimum 3 days per week
Salary: Up to £43,000 per annum, depending on experience

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join a team working with a key client in Newton Aycliffe.

You’ll provide a comprehensive range of occupational health services, helping employees stay healthy, safe and in work. This is a varied role where you’ll use your clinical expertise to deliver case management, fitness-for-work assessments, health surveillance, vaccinations and phlebotomy, alongside health promotion and wellbeing activities.

You’ll work autonomously while being supported by the wider multidisciplinary team, providing professional, evidence-based advice to both employees and managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied and sometimes complex occupational health caseload, supporting early and sustainable returns to work.
  • Provide clear, practical advice to managers and employees on health, wellbeing and fitness for work.
  • Undertake occupational health assessments, health surveillance and fitness-to-work medicals.
  • Deliver vaccinations and phlebotomy as required.
  • Support and participate in client wellbeing and health promotion events.
  • Work in line with NMC standards and professional guidance
  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in accordance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Complete clinical administration within agreed timescales and service level agreements.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, CPD and professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and client contacts to deliver a high-quality occupational health service.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Occupational Health qualification at degree or diploma level.
  • Minimum 2 years' occupational health case management experience, including complex referrals.
  • Demonstrable experience within an occupational health environment.
  • Experience delivering or supporting wellbeing and health promotion days.
  • Competent in occupational health services including health surveillance, fitness-to-work assessments, vaccinations and phlebotomy.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide confident, evidence-based advice.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
