Occupational Health Advisor – Newton Aycliffe
Location: Newton Aycliffe – minimum 3 days on site
Hours: Part-time or full-time – minimum 3 days per week
Salary: Up to £43,000 per annum, depending on experience
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join a team working with a key client in Newton Aycliffe.
You’ll provide a comprehensive range of occupational health services, helping employees stay healthy, safe and in work. This is a varied role where you’ll use your clinical expertise to deliver case management, fitness-for-work assessments, health surveillance, vaccinations and phlebotomy, alongside health promotion and wellbeing activities.
You’ll work autonomously while being supported by the wider multidisciplinary team, providing professional, evidence-based advice to both employees and managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied and sometimes complex occupational health caseload, supporting early and sustainable returns to work.
- Provide clear, practical advice to managers and employees on health, wellbeing and fitness for work.
- Undertake occupational health assessments, health surveillance and fitness-to-work medicals.
- Deliver vaccinations and phlebotomy as required.
- Support and participate in client wellbeing and health promotion events.
- Work in line with NMC standards and professional guidance
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in accordance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
- Complete clinical administration within agreed timescales and service level agreements.
- Contribute to clinical audits, CPD and professional development.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and client contacts to deliver a high-quality occupational health service.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Occupational Health qualification at degree or diploma level.
- Minimum 2 years' occupational health case management experience, including complex referrals.
- Demonstrable experience within an occupational health environment.
- Experience delivering or supporting wellbeing and health promotion days.
- Competent in occupational health services including health surveillance, fitness-to-work assessments, vaccinations and phlebotomy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide confident, evidence-based advice.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
