The Opportunity
A leading specialist façade contractor is looking to appoint a Junior Façade Designer to join their growing design team at their Derby office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior designer, CAD technician or architectural technician looking to develop their career within the façade and building envelope sector.
You will work alongside an experienced design team, gaining exposure to a range of commercial and construction projects while developing your technical knowledge of façade systems, detailing and design coordination.
The Role
As a Junior Façade Designer, you will assist with the preparation and development of technical design information throughout the project lifecycle.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing detailed 2D CAD drawings and technical details.
- Assisting with the design and detailing of façade and cladding systems.
- Reviewing architectural and structural drawings and developing suitable construction details.
- Supporting senior designers with design development and technical queries.
- Assisting with design coordination between clients, contractors, manufacturers and site teams.
- Ensuring drawings and design information are accurate and produced to the required standards.
- Developing an understanding of façade buildability, materials and installation methods.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong AutoCAD skills and confidence producing technical drawings.
- Good understanding of construction drawings and detailing.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to design.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine interest in developing a career within the façade industry.
- Façade experience is desirable but not essential. Candidates with a background in architectural technology, construction design, CAD or cladding who are looking to specialise within façades will also be considered.
