Senior Residential Child Care Worker

Location: Doncaster
Salary: £14.50–£15.00 per hour
Hours: Full-time – 174 hours per month + sleep-ins and on-call duties

Salary & Benefits

What We're Looking For

  • QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare is essential.
  • QCF Level 4 or Level 5 is desirable.
  • Experience working with children and young people in a residential care or childcare setting.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to mentor, motivate and support staff.
  • Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory and trauma-informed care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with young people, colleagues and professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations, resolve conflicts and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Child-centred, compassionate and committed approach to supporting young people.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Applicants must be over 21.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and provide guidance, support and supervision to residential care staff.
  • Act as a positive role model and promote high-quality, child-centred care.
  • Support the development and implementation of individual care plans and support strategies.
  • Oversee the day-to-day care and activities within the home.
  • Monitor and record young people’s progress, significant incidents, behaviour and wellbeing.Support team meetings, training and professional development.
  • Promote a safe, therapeutic and inclusive environment where young people can thrive.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people and promote positive relationships as an important life skill.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and therapeutic interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, risk assessments, health and safety requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Work closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to maintain high standards across the home.
  • Liaise with social workers, therapists, external agencies and other professionals involved in the care of young people.
  • Support continuous improvement and share best practice with the wider team.
  • Attend relevant training and maintain professional knowledge and skills.
