What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager within children's residential care
- Strong understanding of Ofsted requirements, Children's Homes Regulations and safeguarding
- Experience supporting children and young people with EBD and complex needs
- Confident leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop and retain a strong staff team
- Strong knowledge of care planning, risk management and safeguarding
- Ability to maintain high standards of compliance, quality and record keeping
- Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills
- Child-centred approach with a commitment to achieving positive outcomes
- Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Children's Residential Care, or willingness to work towards it
- Ability to manage a growing home and support the successful placement of additional children
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of the 4-bed EBD children's home
- Maintain the home's current Good Ofsted rating and drive continuous improvement
- Ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted requirements, Children's Homes Regulations and safeguarding standards
- Provide strong, consistent and child-centred leadership to the staff team
- Oversee the successful transition and placement of additional young people as occupancy increases
- Ensure high standards of care planning, risk assessment, safeguarding and behaviour support
- Recruit, supervise, develop and motivate staff to deliver consistently high-quality care
- Maintain a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children can thrive
- Manage staffing, rotas, resources and budgets effectively
- Build strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, families and other professionals
- Monitor compliance, audits, records and quality assurance across the service
- Promote positive outcomes across education, wellbeing, independence and personal development
- Work closely with the senior management team to support the continued development of the home
