About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Service Manager to oversee and lead a portfolio of 5–6 children’s residential homes across Birmingham supporting young people with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership and operational oversight across 5–6 residential homes
- Support, mentor and develop Registered Managers and staff teams
- Ensure all homes operate in line with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations, and company policies
- Drive high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance
- Monitor and improve service quality, performance, and occupancy levels
- Lead on audits, action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, external professionals, and stakeholders
- Support recruitment, retention, and staff development across services
- Participate in the out-of-hours on‑call rota, including weekend cover where required
- Promote a culture that is child‑focused, people‑centred, and outcome‑driven
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3–4 years’ experience as a Registered Manager within children’s residential care
- Significant experience working with children and young people with LD and EBD needs
- Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding practices
- Proven leadership and multi‑site management experience
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
- A people‑orientated management style with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
The successful candidate will provide operational leadership, support Registered Managers, drive quality and compliance standards, and promote a positive, child‑centred culture across all services.
