Successful Applicants
- Passionate about improving outcomes and making a meaningful difference to children and young people
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in residential childcare, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years
- Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare (essential)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (preferred at application stage, or willingness to enrol within 6 months)
- Strong understanding of The Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and wider childcare legislation
- Knowledge and experience of supporting children with emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties, including trauma-informed approaches
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to plan, organise, and manage resources effectively
- Experience in budget management and operational oversight
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Full UK driving licence
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of high‑quality, child‑centred care within a residential home
- Ensure each young person has a comprehensive, individualised care plan covering emotional, educational, social, health, and developmental needs
- Build, lead, and develop a strong staff team through recruitment, induction, supervision, and ongoing development
- Promote a culture of consultation, ensuring children and young people are actively involved in their care
- Allocate and support Key Workers to deliver effective care planning
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Quality Standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose
- Take responsibility for safeguarding, complaints, and child protection concerns, ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution
- Work collaboratively with external agencies, including social care, education, health services, and families
- Attend and contribute to care planning meetings, reviews, and professional discussions
- Promote a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for all young people
- Oversee the effective financial and operational management of the home in line with budget expectations
