Senior Carbon Consultant Location: London, UK Salary: £40,000–£55,000 per annum, depending on experience Job Type: Full-time Seniority: Senior Consultant About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Carbon Consultant to join our growing sustainability team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a carbon professional who is passionate about helping clients reduce the carbon impact of their buildings, infrastructure and wider operations. The successful candidate will have strong technical experience in Whole Life Carbon (WLC) and Net Zero Carbon, with the ability to lead projects, undertake detailed analysis and provide practical, commercially focused advice to clients. You will work across a range of projects, supporting clients from early-stage strategy and design through to delivery, helping them understand, measure and reduce both embodied and operational carbon. Key Responsibilities Lead and deliver Whole Life Carbon assessments in accordance with relevant UK standards, guidance and industry methodologies. Undertake embodied carbon assessments, including product, construction, maintenance, replacement and end-of-life impacts. Assess and advise on operational carbon and building energy performance. Develop and implement Net Zero Carbon strategies and pathways for buildings, developments and organisations. Provide carbon reduction advice throughout the design and construction process. Review and interpret environmental data, including Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and embodied carbon factors. Develop carbon baselines, reduction targets, benchmarks and improvement plans. Work with architects, engineers, contractors, developers and other project stakeholders to identify practical carbon reduction opportunities. Prepare high-quality technical reports, assessments, presentations and client deliverables. Present technical findings and recommendations clearly to clients and project teams. Support the development of carbon management strategies, policies and frameworks. Keep up to date with changes to UK carbon policy, standards, legislation and industry best practice. Support junior consultants through technical guidance, mentoring and review of their work. Contribute to business development, including proposals, tenders and client presentations. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders. Essential Experience & Skills Several years' experience working in carbon consultancy, sustainability consultancy, environmental consultancy, engineering or a related field. Strong practical experience delivering Whole Life Carbon assessments. Good understanding of embodied and operational carbon. Experience developing or delivering Net Zero Carbon strategies and/or pathways. Knowledge of relevant UK standards, guidance and methodologies relating to carbon assessment. Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings clearly. Experience using carbon assessment tools, databases and/or modelling software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage projects and work effectively with multiple stakeholders. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team. A commercially minded approach and confidence working directly with clients. Desirable Experience within the built environment, property, construction or infrastructure sectors. Experience with BREEAM, LEED, NABERS UK, Part L, TM54 or other relevant sustainability frameworks. Knowledge of BS EN 15978, RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment for the Built Environment and other relevant WLC guidance. Experience with tools such as One Click LCA, eTool, EC3 or equivalent carbon assessment platforms. Experience developing corporate or project-level Net Zero Carbon targets and transition plans. Relevant degree or professional qualification in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, architecture, construction or a related discipline. Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIBSE, IStructE, RICS, ICE or IEMA. What We Offer £40,000–£55,000 salary, depending on experience.
