An excellent opportunity has arisen for a client-focused and enthusiastic Wills & Probate Associate Solicitor (4+ PQE) to join a forward-thinking and well-established firm in East Lancashire. This role is ideal for an experienced solicitor or legal executive who combines strong technical expertise with compassion and professionalism when advising clients on sensitive private client matters.

The Role

  • Advise clients on a broad range of wills, probate and estate planning matters, delivering expert guidance with empathy and clarity.

Wills & Estate Planning

  • Drafting simple and complex wills, including discretionary and life interest trusts
  • Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney (Property & Financial Affairs and Health & Welfare)
  • Reviewing and updating existing wills and estate planning documents
  • Advising on inheritance tax planning and Deeds of Variation

Estate Administration

  • Applying for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration
  • Collecting, valuing and distributing estate assets
  • Managing tax compliance (IHT, CGT, income tax)
  • Implementing trusts created by will and preparing associated documentation
  • Maintaining accurate file and financial records

Client Care & Business Development

  • Conducting client consultations with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Providing ongoing advice throughout estate administration
  • Supporting marketing and networking initiatives
  • Contributing to the development and supervision of junior colleagues

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 4+ years’ PQE
  • Strong experience in wills, trusts, LPAs and estate administration
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness with strong client relationship skills
  • Ability to manage your own caseload effectively
  • Full driving licence

Desirable

  • STEP qualification or working towards
  • Experience using case management systems (Proclaim preferred)
  • Leadership or supervisory experience
