Criminal Defence Solicitor
Salary: Up to Β£65,000 DOE. Location: Nottingham. Job Type: Permanent, full-time.
Puro Associates are currently working with a leading national and well-established specialist law firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor to join its growing team in Nottingham. The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of private criminal defence matters, advising and representing clients throughout the investigation and prosecution process. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing your own caseload of criminal defence matters from initial instruction through to conclusion
- Advising and representing privately funded clients across a broad range of criminal matters
- Attending police stations and courts as required
- Preparing cases thoroughly and providing clear, practical advice to clients
- Conducting negotiations and advocacy where appropriate
- Dealing with complex and sensitive cases, including serious and financial crime matters
- Advising clients in relation to investigations, prosecutions and associated proceedings
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure a high-quality and consistent service
- Maintaining accurate case records and complying with relevant professional and regulatory requirements
- Contributing to the continued development of the criminal defence offering
The role involves working with clients nationally, so travel to police stations and courts will be required.
About You
- 5+ years PQE with a current practising certificate
- Proven experience acting for clients in criminal law cases
- Strong experience within criminal defence
- Experience managing a caseload independently
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- Strong advocacy, negotiation and case management abilities
- The ability to deal confidently with complex and sensitive matters
- A commercially aware and professional approach
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A genuine passion for criminal law and achieving the best possible outcomes for clients
Experience of privately funded criminal work would be particularly advantageous. Legal Aid experience will also be considered.
