A well-established and highly regarded law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Solicitor / Legal Executive to join its specialist Elderly & Vulnerable Client team in Northampton.

The Role
You’ll be joining an established and busy team dealing with a varied and rewarding caseload. You’ll receive support and supervision when required, whilst being trusted to manage your own work and develop your expertise.
The role will involve working closely with elderly and vulnerable clients, as well as their families and wider support networks. There will also be opportunities to meet clients in their homes and care settings, so excellent communication skills and a genuine understanding of client care are essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and progressing Deputyship applications
- Advising on benefits, care funding and related financial matters
- Managing clients’ property and financial affairs
- Ensuring work is carried out in line with relevant professional and regulatory requirements
- Understanding clients’ wider financial and practical circumstances
- Liaising with families, carers and other professionals
- Identifying potential safeguarding concerns and escalating appropriately
- Managing a demanding caseload and prioritising competing deadlines
- Building strong and lasting client relationships
- Contributing to the development and marketing of the wider team
About You
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical ability with excellent interpersonal skills.
You’ll ideally have:
- 2+ years’ PQE as a Solicitor or equivalent experience as a Legal Executive
- Experience within elderly client, private client, Court of Protection or deputyship work
- Good knowledge of the benefits and care funding system
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively under pressure
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A calm, empathetic and professional approach when dealing with vulnerable clients and challenging family circumstances
- The confidence to take ownership and proactively identify issues
- The ability to explain complex legal matters clearly and sensitively
- A genuine team-focused approach
