An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Negligence Solicitor/Legal Executive (2-5+ years PQE) to join a highly regarded regional law firm with a busy and supportive team. You will manage a varied caseload of clinical and medical negligence claims, taking responsibility for matters from initial instruction through to resolution. There will also be opportunities to become involved in more complex and higher-value claims, depending on your experience.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team with a strong focus on client care, achieving positive outcomes and providing clear, practical advice to clients throughout what can often be a challenging process.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of medical and clinical negligence claims
  • Taking responsibility for matters from initial instruction through to conclusion
  • Assessing the merits of potential claims and advising clients accordingly
  • Obtaining and reviewing relevant medical records and evidence
  • Instructing and liaising with appropriate medical experts
  • Preparing correspondence, statements and other legal documentation
  • Progressing claims efficiently and in accordance with relevant procedures and deadlines
  • Keeping clients regularly informed and providing a high standard of client care
  • Negotiating settlements where appropriate
  • Assisting with more complex and higher-value claims where required
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive case records
  • Working effectively with colleagues, clients, experts and other external organisations
  • Contributing to the wider development of the department and firm
  • Supporting junior colleagues and sharing knowledge where appropriate

About You

  • Experience handling medical negligence / clinical negligence claims within a law firm
  • Ideally 2–5 years’ PQE, although candidates with strong equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Good knowledge of the medical negligence claims process
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and case management abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A professional, approachable and client-focused manner
  • Good IT skills and confidence using case management systems
  • The ability to manage a demanding caseload and work effectively to deadlines
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the wider team
  • A genuine interest in developing your legal career and expanding your experience

Relevant legal qualifications such as a Law Degree, LPC or Legal Executive qualification would be advantageous, alongside demonstrable experience in medical or clinical negligence.
