A well-established and ambitious law firm is seeking an experienced Corporate Solicitor (5+ years’ PQE) to join its growing Corporate team. This role would suit an existing Partner or a senior solicitor with clear Partner ambition, looking to play a key role in the development and growth of the firm.
The position will be based primarily in Stockport, with flexibility to travel and work across other offices as required.
The Role
You will undertake high-quality fee-earning work while contributing strategically to the growth of the team, office, and wider firm. The role combines hands-on corporate work with leadership, supervision, and business development responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and overseeing corporate transactions and projects from inception to completion
- Generating fee income from existing clients, referrers, and personal networks
- Playing an active role in business development and marketing initiatives
- Supervising and supporting fee earners, including covering absences and holidays
- Providing guidance and supervision to junior and mid-level colleagues
- Developing new work from existing clients and attracting new clients to the firm
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with professional contacts and referrers
- Attending and advising clients in person and remotely, delivering a high standard of client care
- Managing correspondence and documentation via the firm’s case management system
- Ensuring accurate file management in line with internal procedures
- Maintaining compliance with quality, risk management and regulatory standards (Lexcel and SRA Code of Conduct)
- Managing time recording, billing, WIP and cash collection in line with agreed targets
- Participating in team, office and group meetings
- Upholding and promoting the firm’s values and culture
About You
You will be a commercially minded corporate lawyer with strong leadership qualities and a collaborative approach. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Minimum 5 years’ PQE in Corporate Law
- Strong technical expertise across corporate transactions
- A clear desire and capability to develop a Partner-level role
- Proven ability to generate work and contribute to business growth
- Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident and professional client-facing communication skills
- Good IT skills, including experience with case management systems
- A team-oriented mindset aligned with firm values
