Role Introduction
Do you want to see your ideas grow into reality? Your multifaceted role will be to develop, optimise and configure thermochemical hydrothermal processing technology from inception through to the commissioning and certification of a Pilot and First-Of-A-Kind (FOAK) green methanol plant. You will be joining a highly focused scientific and engineering team developing hydrothermal treatment technologies. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced ECI engineer, with a proven track record in delivering credible designs, to join this expanding start up business with a bright future! This role would suit candidates that have 5 years industry experience and are looking for a challenging role with a lot of technical autonomy, that has the potential to develop into technical specialism and/or a team leadership role as the company expands.
Purpose of Role
To develop and issue Electrical, Control System and Instrumentation designs for procurement, installation and commissioning of projects meeting ISO 9001 Quality Standards, Customer specifications and International Regulatory Requirements. The role will develop as the business grows. Training will be provided in specialised skill/knowledge areas on a case by case basis.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
- Design and develop Electrical, Control System and Instrumentation designs suitable for Purifire’s expanding portfolio of chemical processing plant products.
- Ensure technical excellence and functionality of Electrical, Control and Instrumentation systems for proposals and contracts according to quality, safety, reliability, maintainability and cost targets.
- Work with other individuals, teams and disciplines with the business to support Sales, new product development and aftermarket support.
- Undertake site visits and technical meetings as required.
- Prepare, review and approve drawings, layouts, specifications and sub supplier data to ensure they meet the requirements of the project.
- Generate other technical documentation including but not limited to: Functional design specifications, Software design specifications, Instrumentation schedules, Communication maps, Cable schedules, Logic diagrams, Termination schedules, Cable block diagrams, General report writing.
- Preparing data sheets with process values for completion by the vendor.
- Prepare or advise on procurement specifications, specify and approve materials of construction to meet the requirements of the project specifications.
- Prepare, specify and approve control system Functional Design Specifications, Software Design Specifications, Logic Diagrams and Cause & Effect Matrix.
- Support the generation of safety cases.
- Define and write PLC and/or custom electronics control and instrumentation PLC/HMI languages.
- Define and configure HMI Visualisation Programs especially V T SCADA.
- Simulate the PLC and Visualisation Programs using the appropriate simulation tools.
- Specify and approve test and inspection procedures of all electrical, control and instrumentation equipment.
- Carry out local FAT with Customer Presence.
- Carry out SAT of control systems at the supplier premises.
- Provide design activity status reports and estimated design timings for project schedules as requested.
- Schedule own work to meet manufacturing and delivery targets as detailed in project plans and meet the needs of the business.
About you
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
- You will be a Chartered Engineer or demonstrably working towards chartered status.
- You will have the ability to keep up to date on developments in the Electrical, Control System and Instrumentation fields and recommend appropriate opportunities to improve reliability whilst reducing costs and lead times.
- Proven experience in a relevant environment (Chemical processing plant, oil and gas industry etc).
- Knowledge of Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Design and Implementation including Pressure, Temperature, Flow and Level Measurement.
- Knowledge of Hazardous area classification and how these influenced your designs.
- PLC/PC/Visualisation, CAD literate Detailed knowledge of Industrial network communication Protocols PLC programming and visualisation configuration.
