Head of Retail Sales
Location: UK
Reports to: CEO
Start date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive with equity options
1. The Role
We’re looking for a driven, entrepreneurial Head of Retail Sales to lead Puresport into its next phase of omnichannel growth. Your mission is to build our retail business from the ground up, securing top-tier listings, driving meaningful sell-through and turning stores into true brand-building engines.
This isn’t just about getting on shelves, it’s about getting off them.
You’ll bring proven experience in supplements, CPG, or FMCG and a killer instinct for where and how to win. This role is for someone who knows the space, has the contacts and has the hunger to lead from the front, owning everything from top-line growth to retailer relationships, category strategy and in-store execution.
2. About Puresport
Puresport is a performance wellness brand built For the Long Run, here to challenge shortcut culture and raise the standard for what people should expect from the category.
In a market full of noise, gimmicks, and false claims, we’re building something different, products rooted in science, a brand grounded in trust and a community powered by real progress.
In the past 24 months, we’ve more than doubled revenue, launched breakthrough products across performance, recovery, and hydration and built one of the UK’s most engaged wellness communities both online and in real life.
Now we’re ready to take that same energy into retail and we’re looking for a commercial leader to make it happen.
3. The Role
As Head of Retail Sales, you’ll own the UK retail strategy and lead the charge in turning Puresport into a household name.
You’ll be responsible for building and executing our omnichannel retail plan, securing new listings across high-impact channels (health, grocery, luxury, fitness), developing deep commercial partnerships and ensuring we deliver not just distribution, but performance.
You’ll work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to integrate retail with our direct, digital, and brand strategies, ensuring a unified approach that drives growth and builds long-term value.
What You’ll Do
- Build and own our UK retail sales strategy: from go-to-market planning and channel prioritisation to account targeting and revenue delivery.
- Build a Channel : Deep understanding of UK retail buyers and category mechanics across:
- High street (H&B, Boots)
- Grocery (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose)
- Convenience and Health
- (Optional: Gym/fitness retail – if proven economics)
- Manage relationships with key retail partners: own the buyer relationships, commercial terms, joint business planning and promotional calendars.
- Drive retail performance: ensure strong on-shelf availability, promotional execution, sell-through, and visibility across all accounts.
- Forecast and manage retail demand: work closely with Ops and Finance to align sales plans with stock availability, cash flow and growth targets.
- Launch with impact: lead the commercial side of new product launches across retail, from positioning and pitch through to activation and replenishment.
- Build and lead a high-performing retail sales team: as we grow including field reps, NAMs, or broker/agency partners where needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Operations, and Product to ensure seamless execution of retail campaigns and promotions.
- Integrate offline and online: work with the D2C and brand teams to create joined-up omnichannel campaigns and customer journeys.
- Constantly refine and adapt : track retail performance, gather insights and adjust the playbook to maximise impact across each channel.
- Be a growth driver and culture carrier: push for commercial excellence while embodying the brand and mission of Puresport.
- Be a Builder: You\’re here to build a retail business, from scratch, at pace, with ownership. Don’t wait for a brief or drop problems on the CEO’s desk. Bring solutions, make decisions, and move the needle.
4. What You’ll Bring
- 6+ years in Retail sales roles within supplements, FMCG, or wellness categories
- A track record of building and scaling retail distribution, from getting in the door to delivering performance and growth
- Deep understanding of the UK retail landscape, across grocery, high street, health, pharmacy, luxury and fitness
- Proven network and relationships with relevant buyers and category leads
- Strong P&L and budget ownership, you know how to balance growth, margin, and promotional ROI
- Strategic thinking matched with frontline execution, you can see the big picture and still close the deal
- Sharp negotiation, presentation, and commercial storytelling skills
- Hunger to win, grit to push through setbacks and pride in building something real
- A collaborative, no-ego approach, you lift the team, lead by example, and do what needs to get done
- A passion for health, performance and helping people pursue progress
Bonus Experience (Not Required, But Highly Valuable)
- Experience launching a brand or category into retail for the first time
- Familiarity with D2C and how to align online and offline channels
- Experience managing brokers, field teams, or distributor relationships
- Background in trade marketing or shopper marketing strategy
- Exposure to the wellness, fitness, or premium lifestyle space
5. Why This Is a Unique Opportunity
This isn’t just a sales role, it’s a chance to architect the next phase of growth for one of the UK’s most exciting brands.
You’ll be joining at a moment of real momentum, with breakthrough products, a powerful community and a clear strategic path. But the retail playbook is still to be written and you’ll be the one to write it.
You’ll work directly with the CEO, shape the commercial strategy, and bring your experience, network and ideas to life in a brand that’s built For the Long Run.
If you’ve been waiting for the opportunity to build something meaningful and do it with a team that’s in it For the Long Run, we’d love to hear from you.
