Our client based near Saffron Walden, Essex is looking for a CNC machinist to join their team.
As a CNC machinist your duties will include:
* Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning machines (Mazak & Fanuc)
* Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
* Select and install tools, work holding, fixtures, and offsets; perform machine alignment and zeroing
* Monitor machining runs, check first articles, and perform in‑process inspection using micrometers, calipers, CMM (where applicable), gauges, etc
* Diagnose and troubleshoot machine or program issues, minimize downtime, and maintain product quality.
An ideal candidate for the CNC machinist role will have:
* Proven experience (minimum 3–5 years or more) operating and programming CNC machines, especially Mazak and Fanuc controls
* Experience in both milling and turning operations (2‑, 3‑, 4‑axis milling, multi-axis turning, live tooling preferred)
* Proficiency in writing and editing G‑code programs and Mazatrol (or equivalent).
