We are looking for an Architectural Technologist to join the Group Property Development Team. The role involves providing specialist, technical support and services across all property development projects, covering both new and existing sites. In addition, you will contribute to the wider Development team in developing a culture of best practice and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out desktop appraisals for sites to assess their suitability for conversion for gym use.
- Carrying out initial feasibility studies and risk assessments.
- Assessing environmental impacts and identifying legal issues.
- Preparing technical drawings and information for both feasibility studies and construction projects.
- Preparation of drawings and information required for planning and statutory consents (Planning, Building Control).
- Analysing architectural plans and drawings, highlighting any possible risks or problems and making amendments using computer-aided design applications (CAD).
- Specifying the appropriate technology and tools to be used in the project and advising where this requires deviation from the initial design plans.
- Preparation of 3D visuals/models to help other stakeholders in the business understand schemes.
- Assisting the Senior Project Architect with technical drawings and details for use in design manuals.
- Liaising with the architect, surveyors and other construction professionals.
- Providing technical assistance to the architects, design managers and other members of the business where necessary.
- Input into the continuous improvement of gym formats and design standards.
- Ensuring personal development plans are in place.
- Positively representing the Development function internally and being an ambassador for PureGym externally.
- Being recognized as someone who makes a significant contribution across the Development function.
The Person:
- Has previous experience as an Architectural Technologist.
- Is a proficient user of AutoCAD, Sketch Up and ideally Revit.
- Has a strong understanding of Building Regulations.
- Ideally educated to degree level and can demonstrate a track record of continual professional and personal development.
- Ideally has experience of contributing to multi-site property developments consistently and at scale.
- Ideally has experience working in or with large scale organisations in customer facing industries such as leisure, retail, hospitality and retail banking.
- Has a strong interest in architecture, mathematics, drawing and design, with an excellent eye for detail.
- Has good time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Has high levels of creativity, imagination and vision.
- Proactive, accountable, hands on, adaptable and able to react quickly to a fast moving, ever-changing environment.
- An excellent communicator, with the ability to simply convey complex messages and influence at a senior level.
- Commercially astute, able to evaluate investment decisions considering member brand expectations balanced with the required levels of return.
- Member focused, always striving to improve the experience for all members through own area or working across the business.
- Process orientated, with the ability to identify and remove waste through applying lean thinking.
- Able to work cross-functionally, to bring together all parts of the business to deliver the right outcome for members and PureGym.
- Ideally has a passion for, or an interest in, fitness and leisure.
- Able to travel as required.
