I am supporting a high-growth climate tech business working in the carbon dioxide removal market. This is an opportunity to assess the quality, risk and scientific credibility of emerging carbon removal projects, with a particular focus on biomass-based pathways such as biochar and BECCS. The role would suit someone who enjoys combining technical climate science, project assessment, supplier engagement and clear communication.

You will help review CDR projects, assess scientific and commercial risks, support the development of internal evaluation frameworks, and contribute to building trust in a rapidly growing carbon removal market.

Responsibilities:
  • Assessing and vetting CDR projects
  • Reviewing project quality, delivery risk, permanence and credibility
  • Developing expertise across biochar, BECCS and other CDR pathways
  • Supporting internal assessment frameworks
  • Engaging with project developers and technical stakeholders
  • Keeping up to date with scientific and market developments in carbon removal
Skills & Experience:
  • A degree in chemical engineering, environmental science, chemistry, natural sciences or a related field
  • Experience in climate, sustainability, carbon removal, process engineering, consulting, industry, academia, NGO or government environments
  • Strong understanding of carbon, climate and sustainability issues
  • Knowledge or interest in CDR pathways, ideally biochar, BECCS or biomass-based carbon removal
  • Curiosity, resilience and comfort working in a fast-moving environment
