I am working with a listed multinational bank that is seeking an Indirect Tax Director. This is a 3-6 month contract role to bridge the gap while the group recruits permanently, and it could become a temp-to-perm opportunity. The team is looking for the director to join as soon as possible.
The Director will take the lead on several projects, including two VAT reclaims, and partner with the business on indirect tax matters.
The Director will:
- Drive UK indirect tax initiatives and support global tax transformation to enhance compliance and efficiency.
- Provide expert indirect tax advice on UK and European transactions, manage relationships, and represent SCB in industry forums.
- Ensure timely tax filings and develop systems to streamline indirect tax operations across regions.
- Lead and develop team capabilities in indirect tax and professional skills.
- Identify, escalate, and manage indirect tax risks while ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.
- Oversee accurate and timely tax compliance in the UK, ensuring alignment with internal policies.
- Uphold ethical standards, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to SCB\’s conduct principles.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external advisors, and tax authorities to deliver effective tax outcomes.
The preferred candidate will have:
- Strong indirect tax experience gained from working in financial services.
- Membership of ICCA or CIOT, or hold an accounting or tax qualification.
- Experience working with business stakeholders and non-tax professionals to manage projects and deliver expertise.
