Our client is a leading Engineering and Construction main contracting company, who deliver design-and-build projects throughout the UK in various industry sectors. Due to growth within their Energy business, they are seeking a Primary Electrical Design Engineer to work on Battery Energy Storage schemes throughout the UK. This is a developing business unit where you can be part of their growth strategy for many years to come.
You will be working in a team delivering a growing programme of projects in the Battery Energy Storage System market. You will be producing electrical layouts for substations (including AIS / GIS up to 400kV), cable route layout drawings & sections, LV layouts, switch room and control room equipment layouts and site earthing layouts etc.
Responsibilities:
- Determine the base electrical site layout for a project covering adoptable and private assets, accounting for the need to bring external services / connections to each item of plant or equipment.
- Contribute to the production of specifications for major items of plant and equipment such as disconnectors, CT’s, VT’s, SA’s, PI’s and for more complex items such as circuit breakers.
- Design of equipment support structures for AIS electrical equipment from 66kV to 400kV to convey requirements to the manufacturer and review / approve manufacturers drawings.
- Produce earthing layouts for sites at all voltage levels from first principles that can be verified by the earthing designer.
- Produce site wide ducting / cabling layout drawings, coordinating requirements with other engineering disciplines. The candidate should have a working knowledge of cable types and installation techniques from 11kV to 132kV and ideally up to 400kV.
Experience required:
- A Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems Electrical preferred).
- Previous experience of primary electrical design with a consultancy, contractor or utility in the Power industry.
- Experienced in the design of HV AC power systems. Have demonstrable experience in producing electrical layout drawings for substations, switchrooms, control rooms and balance of plant projects that may be privately owned or have elements adopted under G81 by the host DNO.
- Understanding of industry HV and EHV substation installation standards and specifications.
Package on offer:
- Salary range £70,000 - £80,000.
- Car allowance of circa £8,500 or company car.
