Our Civil Engineering client operates throughout the UK delivering integrated solutions for projects in Water, Utilities, Rail, Highways and Energy. Their Civils division operates within the water industry delivering non-infrastructure projects for Tier1 main contractors. Due to recent awards and a healthy order book for clients working in a 5‑year framework, they are looking for a Sub‑Agent to initially manage projects ranging from £500k – £4m. They have schemes within the Thames Valley region (Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire). They are flexible in terms of working arrangements which could include days on site, days in the office, and one day working from home. Travel to sites would normally be within a 1‑hour radius where you will be placed on projects within commuting distance from home.
Responsibilities
- Manage and be aware of all aspects of day‑to‑day site production for the satisfactory completion of specific elements of the project, including resource management, forward planning, and communication with teams.
- Prepare all relevant documentation prior to the commencement of the installation phase of contracts.
- Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements for activities undertaken by directly employed resources.
- Manage, supervise and mentor engineering resources to ensure compliance with contract drawings and specifications and ensure effective implementation of all engineering controls.
- Support the Project Manager with controlling costs, forecasting value and production of programmes.
- Manage and control all site activities ensuring that all work is undertaken safely and timely in accordance with Safety, Health and Environmental legislation, relevant contractual timescales and contract specifications.
Qualifications
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
- Demonstrable experience of working within the water and/or sewage industries (preferred).
- Previous experience in a similar role within Civil Engineering and design & build projects.
- Strong civil engineering background with solid knowledge of health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.
- Relevant H&S qualifications (IOSH or CITB 5‑Day Site Safety Management, a relevant CSCS card, First Aid training and EUSR).
- Good understanding of commercial and contractual aspects.
