A well-established and highly automated manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team at its Head Office site in Swadlincote.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working within a fast-paced production environment, supporting advanced automated machinery and contributing to continuous improvement projects.
The Role
Reporting into the Engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving production machinery and plant equipment to maximise uptime and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across site machinery and equipment
- Diagnosing and resolving both electrical and mechanical faults
- Supporting machinery modifications, upgrades, and improvement projects
- Working with electrical panels, control boards, switches, and PLC-controlled systems
- Reading and interpreting engineering and electrical drawings
- Ensuring maintenance activities are recorded accurately
- Supporting calibration and servicing schedules across production plant
- Promoting a strong health & safety culture onsite
- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production
- Supporting risk assessments and method statements where required
- Working collaboratively with production and fabrication teams
- Providing occasional out-of-hours support where necessary
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- NVQ Level 3 qualification minimum (or equivalent)
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or automated production environment
- Strong multiskilled capability across both electrical and mechanical maintenance
- Experience fault-finding on PLC-controlled machinery and automated systems
- Knowledge of electrical panels, logic controls, switches, and production equipment
- A proactive approach to problem solving and team working
- Strong awareness of health & safety practices
- Experience working with a variety of PLC systems and European manufacturing machinery would be highly beneficial.
Salary of £43,000. Permanent late shift: Monday to Thursday, 2pm - Midnight. £15 per shift allowance. 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays + 2 Christmas shutdown days. Company sick pay following successful probation period. Overtime paid via banked hours system. Stable long-term opportunity within a growing manufacturing environment.
