We re recruiting for an experienced Control & Systems Engineer to join the engineering team of a well-established, global manufacturing business based in Burton-on-Trent.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in industrial automation, PLCs and control systems who enjoys a mix of hands-on engineering, software development, fault finding and project work.
You ll become a key technical specialist within the site, working on a range of automation, controls and engineering improvement projects taking projects from initial concept and specification through to design, programming, implementation and commissioning.
What you ll be doing
- Developing, modifying and fault finding PLC and control systems
- Working extensively with Siemens S7 Simatic Manager and TIA Portal
- Supporting SCADA systems, PLC interfaces and industrial software integration
- Programming and fault finding AC and DC drives
- Delivering automation and control projects from concept through to completion
- Working hands-on with production machinery, upgrades and new installations
- Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and performance
- Producing designs, software and technical documentation
- Working alongside Engineering, Production, Quality, R&D, HSE and IT teams
- Liaising with external suppliers and contractors
- Providing technical guidance and sharing knowledge with other engineers
What we re looking for
You ll ideally have a HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Controls, Automation, Industrial Software or a related engineering discipline, alongside strong practical experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
You ll need strong knowledge of
- Siemens S7
- TIA Portal
- Simatic Manager
- SCADA systems
- PLC programming and fault finding
- Industrial automation and control systems
- AC & DC drives
- SQL / Access databases
Experience with AutoCAD and data analysis would also be beneficial, while knowledge of WinCC Professional or WinCC Advanced would be a definite advantage.
The role will suit someone who is equally comfortable on the factory floor working directly with machinery as they are developing software or designing systems at a desk.
Some travel to other UK sites will be required, with occasional international travel possible.
