We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced, dependable, and customer‑focused Commercial Catering Engineer to join their expanding team. This is a field‑based role supporting the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of Rational commercial catering equipment across a wide range of customer sites. Whether you are based in the North West or Shropshire, this role offers long‑term stability, excellent manufacturer training, and the opportunity to work with a respected and growing business.

The Role

  • Install, commission, service, and maintain Rational commercial catering equipment to manufacturer standards.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime and ensure safe operation.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise equipment reliability and lifespan.
  • Respond professionally to breakdowns and service call‑outs, prioritising customer needs.
  • Accurately complete job sheets, service reports, and all associated documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation, company policies, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, test equipment, and spare parts stock.
  • Provide clear technical advice to customers and build strong working relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and recommend solutions.
  • Work independently to manage daily workloads while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in ongoing manufacturer and company training programmes.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial catering equipment.
  • Strong expertise in Rational appliances is highly desirable.
  • Excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic skills across commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Relevant industry qualifications (COMCAT, electrical qualifications, etc.) are desirable.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and remain organised under pressure.

Desirable Qualifications

  • COMCAT 1, 3, 5 (or equivalent commercial catering gas qualifications).
  • Gas Safe Registration.
  • Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g., CCEECC or equivalent).
  • Rational training and hands‑on experience with Rational cooking systems.
