PLC Programmer β Full-Time, Permanent
Location: London, Ontario
Shift: Days (7:00 AM β 3:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $30.00β$40.00/hour (based on experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated PLC Programmer to join our automation and controls team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automated control systems for a variety of industrial applications. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in PLC programming, system integration, and industrial automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, configure, commission, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs based on customer requirements.
- Develop, modify, and optimize PLC logic and control system programs.
- Integrate PLCs, HMIs, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) into automated production lines and machinery.
- Support system commissioning, startup, and on-site installation activities.
- Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting of automation systems.
- Record and analyze test data to verify system performance.
- Investigate equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and report findings to senior engineers.
- Assist engineering teams in reviewing electrical drawings, project documentation, and system designs.
- Prepare technical documentation to support quality and compliance requirements.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with customer and company safety standards.
- Provide professional customer support during on-site installations and service visits.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and project teams throughout project execution.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Automation Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Equivalent hands-on industry experience will also be considered.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of PLC programming and industrial automation experience.
- Minimum 2 years of system integration experience.
- Minimum 2 years of Ignition SCADA experience.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs and HMIs.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, automation equipment, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPLAN electrical design software.
- Experience in the automotive, assembly, aerospace, medical, or heavy steel manufacturing industries.
- Ignition Certification is considered an asset.
- Experience with commissioning automated equipment and production lines is preferred.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel locally throughout Southern Ontario for customer projects.
- Willingness to travel occasionally internationally when required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $30.00β$40.00 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day Shift (7:00 AM β 3:00 PM)
