This HGV Class 1 Driver role is based at our customer's Pineham transport operation, supporting a major national tool and trade retailer. Drivers will complete planned store deliveries using rolling cages, typically completing around 3 to 5 deliveries per shift. Typical start times are between 04:30 and 08:30, with regular day shifts available.

Most importantly, our customer is looking for drivers who want to become properly established on the contract. Successful drivers will receive a comprehensive induction and training programme before working independently, making this an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for stability and a genuine route into permanent employment.

Rates for an HGV Class 1 Driver:

  • Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays – £23.00 per hour (+ holiday accrued) or £25.78ph (with holiday pay rolled up)

Training & Induction:

Our customer operates a thorough induction and training process to ensure drivers are completely comfortable with the role before being expected to complete routes independently. Successful HGV Class 1 Drivers will complete:

  • Initial interview
  • 8-hour classroom induction
  • Driving assessment
  • Approximately 3 to 4 Days of buddy training alongside an experienced driver providing practical training on store locations, routes and delivery procedures
  • Begin working your own routes once training has been successfully completed

Rather than simply putting drivers straight out on the road, you'll be given the opportunity to properly learn the operation and become familiar with the routes and stores before working independently.
